Imagine my surprise that Walks 36-50 are not in areas which I would say arenot traditionally seen as being in the Yorkshire Dales eg Halifax. What is really disappointing though is that walks 33-38 and 40-50 also feature in your publication 50 Walks in West Yorkshire which I already own. It is not on really duplicating 17 walks especiallly as there is so much scope in the actual Dales to provide new walks.

Dear Mr Ellison, Thank you for your recent communication regarding our publication 50 Walks in Yorkshire Dales. I was sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the area covered by the book. The walks you mention in the southernmost area of the book’s range are in the Calderdale region. Although this is not traditionally part of the area referred to as ‘The Dales’, it nonetheless still qualifies as a dale, hence we felt able to include them in the book. We have a number of books in our 50 Walks series that cover areas of Britain, such as the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District, and others which have county titles. Inevitably, there is a degree of crossover between the two. We will shortly be commissioning some new walks, and we will take the opportunity to minimise the amount of crossover content between publications, as well as introduce some more walks in the more traditional Dales area.
