Class 2 scooter
Sterling Pearl Blue is a Class 2 scooter.
4mph vehicles are Class 2. They must be driven on the pavement where a pavement is available. They must not be used on roads unless there is no pavement but can be used to cross the road. Although there is no driving test required or mandatory insurance required in order to drive a Class 2 scooter you are still required to observe the Highway Code and it is your legal responsibility to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other road users when driving your scooter.
Do I need to take out insurance?
Insurance for mobility scooters is currently not a legal requirement but it does give peace of mind to know that you are covered for those unforeseen circumstances such as your scooter being stolen, being involved in an accident or even causing injury to another person or property.
Do I need to apply for a tax disc?
Class 2 mobility scooters (all of range except Diamond) – intended for footway use only with a maximum speed of 4mph and an unladen weight not exceeding 113.4kgs are not required to be registered with DVLA.
