AA Big Road Atlas, Europe by Michael Hardman from Taunton, 19/03/2012
I'm a writer and use maps for reference as well as for travel purposes. I do not use a Sat-Nav. With regard to my next project, a novel, I'm currently researching routes in Switzerland (CH) and as I will be visiting CH this summer, I decided to replace my old Michelin road atlas, Europe, 1997. I was shocked to find that the Swiss village of Goppenstein is not in your 2011 edition. As the village is the departure/arrival point for cars being transshipped by rail through the 'famous' Lotschburg Tunnel, this is, in my view, a serious omission. In addition, there is no mention of the tunnel by name. There is no European mileage chart, nor do you include the scale on the main pages, (as in 1cm = 1 kilometre, for quick reference purposes). Plus, the layout is too fussy and the ring binder margins obscure lots of detail. All in all, it's not much of a product and not worth taking seriously. I think I wasted my money.
